Archbishop of Cincinnati Affirms Contributions of Religious
By Sister Carolyn B.
Recently Archbishop Dennis Schnurr of Cincinnati celebrated liturgy with the religious of the Archdiocese who are celebrating their jubilees this year. In his homily he affirmed the role of religious in the Church and thanked them for consecrating their lives to Christ in service to His people.
He affirmed religious communities for modeling for the Church the important functions of prayer and good works. He reflected that a “yes” to religious life is a witness to the truth that only those who remain firmly united to the vine, who is Jesus, will thrive and bear fruit in abundance.
As one of those jubilarians, I found myself being grateful for Catherine McAuley who founded our community to live a life of contemplation and action. It has been a privilege to share this life with so many sisters who have been very fruitful in serving those who are in need. It was truly a day to rejoice in the many blessings I have received as a Sister of Mercy.
