Time to Urge Senate Action on DREAM Act

December 9, 2010

By Marianne Comfort, Institute Justice Team

Congratulations to all supporters of the DREAM Act! The House of Representatives passed the legislation last night, 216-198.

The Senate voted Thursday not to proceed with its version of the legislation, and is expected next week to take up the DREAM Act that passed the House. This will eliminate the step of reconciling two competing versions of the legislation.

The delay also gives supporters more time to rally Senate votes necessary for passage. So it’s now time to contact your senators – even if you have contacted them already – to bring the DREAM Act to a vote next week and vote for its passage.
